The Story of Wicked
How did Wicked started? Does anyone know what Anomie means? All these questions seem to bother you, so sit back and enjoy reading the roots and foundations of the deviant brand, named Wicked, from a bad ass shirt company named Anomie.
Organic is Universal. Universal Means Shirt.
Organic is everywhere. It is anything that has a natural process and that has life or assimilates life. Same in clothing. The fashion retail industry, especially in the Philippines spell SHIRT, specifically T-Shirt when it comes to the unversality of the retail product.
The shirt is the widely known and most common piece of clothing that a person wears. A shirt is made so simple you can use it anywhere at any occasion. There are many kinds of shirt, according to style, design and functionality. There is the v-neck shirt, the round neck, the polo shirt, the t-shirt, the undershirt, the sando, the sleeveless shirt.
When it comes to designs, the possibilities are endless. You can just print anything on the shirt, anywhere. Popular designs of shirts come in retro, pop, vintage, and statement shirts.
Because the t-shirt is the easiest and the most feasible retail brand, the company said "why not"?
From Mint to Wicked. A Battle of Brand Names.
The first brainstorm session, Jeaniefaye Tan presented a full concept of apparel named "Mint". Mint already exists and beacuse of some problems with her concept, majority of the group did not consider "Mint" to be the brand name and apparel.
Angel Fabellon chose the name Oak. Maybe that day she choked so she blurted "oak!" while the group was brainstorming. The group immediately fell in love with the name and everything fell into place. A great retail concept was weaved around the brand name. Oak stood for everything that is organic, and it commanded respect and honor, as the tree oak symbolized power and deity.
Unfortunately, OakApparel already existed. Apparently, Oak is a brand of casual clothing from New York. It broke the group's hearts, but we have no choice but to tweak the brand name, and to change the concept.
Our professor suggested targeting the call center industry, since the market has not yet been tapped. The call center industry is a growing industry, with being "nocturnal" becoming a fad and accepted lifestyle. 10 years ago, when you say you've got a "nocturnal" lifestyle, people think you're a hooker. But today, a "nocturnal" lifestyle is a lifestyle that earns a 25,000 monthly income. That's pretty neat.
So the "somnambulist" lifestyle was introduced into the concept. Why not make a lifestyle boutique shop for people who have a "nocturnal" lifestyle? The name "Carpe Diem" was concieved by RC Roca, after drinking too much coffee. The name "Carpe Diem", sounds so ironic to the lifestyle, a nocturnal lifestyle, seizing the day.
Little did she know that "Carpe Diem" is an overused brand name, and it just sounded fishy.
The concept became cluttered, the group was disoriented, there were no names and no big concept. There was just a shirt, a shirt with no name. Everyone brainstormed and it stormed and rained ideas, still there was no idea that made the group finally agree to pursue the concept.
One night RC talked about the group's dilemmas some friends. She told them about the brand and that the group was losing hope. Her friends looked at the customized shirt and told her that the shirt looked deviant. Deviant was a word that RC wanted to emphasize since the group wanted an "out of the box" concept for the retail brand. Deviant, what could be a good alternative name for Deviant?
A friend remarked, "Suwail!", and eureka! that was it.
Suwail had a strong brand identity. Just by the name itself, you'd know that the brand is deviant, rebellious, bad ass and non conformist. Suwail is very Filipino, and it is like the Alter Ego of Kamiseta, or the younger sibling of Maldita.
Yet there is something wrong with the name Suwail, it did not click with the group. Most of them wanted to change the name into something better, because Suwail is so-so for them.
The group spent two nights in Ryan's house and most of the finale retail concept was developed there. Angel suggested the name "Defy", but since someone else thought of the name, it's better if we leave "Defy" alone. The name "Defy" almost cost RC and Angel's friendship.
Then Angel, a piggy bank of brand names, thought of "Wicked". The name "Wicked" had a wicked ring to it, and the group fell in love with the name. Everyone agreed on the name "Wicked".
Everything fell into place. The name, the concept, and the "out of the box" idea that the group wanted was there, in its exact fit. Wicked stands for everything that is deviant, non conformist and rebellious.
Anomie Company: We've Got No Laws For You
The name Anomie was a term that means "no laws". It sounded fit to the group, since we have no laws. We don't follow the protocol, we don't attend the meetings on time. There is chaos during brainstorm, and we are just who we are, a young group of defiant individuals who disagrees to be stereotyped and who breaks away from the norm.
We have an Anomie lifestyle, a lifestyle that is uniquely ours.

Mission Accomplished
by Jeaniefaye Tan
I never thought marketing 07 is very tough wherein had to I test my own capabilities not only in the academe but also in practical application. I’ve learned a lot of things. Coping up with different personalities of my group mates is one of them. I’ve learned to welcome different circumstances as part of the game.
When the specialty store inspired by organic project was announced by Sir Tim I thought it will be as simple as my other projects in 3rd year so I decided to make out of my noodles…a simple thought…a simple tinny winy in mind….. As a matter of fact I came up with a proposal to my group mates. My very own idea of specialty store I called it “Mint” Since it was derived from organic naturals. But unfortunately my group mates disagree with it because it lacks of good information and maybe because it is contrasting to their ideals. Of course, I understand that we have different perception regarding organic and we have to agree in one plan and decision.
We brainstorm without anything in mind…hahaha…lucky enough little by little our brains finally work… However, I didn’t feel effective during our first brainstorming. Different views are hard to apply in our venture …then came a moment of being skeptical in our ability whether we can finish it on time or there might be more creative than us…. I had an idea but sometimes didn’t grant a chance to be recognized. Yeah there are more ideas…I mean a lot of ideas….but how are we going to come up with a unique one??? Or most appropriate…the most “Swak” above all. Well, we decided to have a financial contribution. At first I was in depth thinking of where I am getting an amount of 500 then the next one is 1000 in a rush…!!! Of course I prayed for a miracle and God is so good to hear my prayers at once…A special person gave me all my financial needs. (Thanks TEH!!! You’ve been helping me without asking anything in return)……..and also to my parents, bro and most of all my beloved twin sister “sai”….Your my inspiration…… (‘’,)
Anyways there are instances that I ask myself…. will I be suitable for marketing position.….? How will I learn if I don’t take responsibilities now? Question of those kinds are making me feel sick….I remember my first day taking up marketing with also a very good professor. I never take marketing subjects as more complicated than others…I just feel excited during exams and projects but I never had that feeling …I mean that passion to work as an eligible marketer….(by the way, I consider myself as marketer ever since I take up the course)
I just realized this retailing project is amazing in a sense that it gives each one of us the opportunity to grow and bring out what’s best in us. I didn’t know how to take more challenging task until I met the retailing guru-Sir Tim. I would like to personally thank you for having such a great teaching ability and considerations. There are times that I want to skip your classes because of fear not being prepared for your questions… but then again I’ve learned to face that apprehension…for I know there would be a lot of Mr. Tim Capellen in the future…
For my group mates, I know we had been in difficult situations but as far as I know we did enjoy every moment of Brainstorming, sleepovers and most of all the fight scenes…..Heheheh….Sometimes we just need to take time, listen and welcome complicated scenario to realize the worth of each ideas in our minds. Oh yes, we did accomplish retailing but I never expected to accomplish good teamwork after all…….. To God all be the Glory!!!!

A Rollercoaster Ride
by: Ma. Angelica C. Roca
I can't believe that one month had passed. I can't believe our group made it through with flying colors in low altitude. When I look back and reflect upon it, I am left in awe and amazement of the things I was able to accomplish, and the life changing realizations that occured to me while making this project.
What are those realizations? I learned how cranky I get at 4 in the morning. Same thing, that I am most productive at that unholy hour. I realized how thick faced I can become and how resourceful I can be when faced with obstacles. I realized that if properly motivated, I can become a really intense and dogmatic person, and that I don't settle for mediocrity. It's either I will suck or I will be good at it. There is nothing in between.
I could compare our retail project to a roller coaster ride experience. I'm not going to be cheesy here and tell you that there are ups and downs. Let's be more descriptive.
You enter the roller coaster ride with excitement. You choose your seat with careful analysis of how enthralled you'll become when you're being shot out at 500 miles per hour.
Our group preferred to sit at the back. I guess we really wanted to vomit our guts at the end of this ride. I admit that there was procrastination. We BMC guys just love to cram. There is nothing more BMCish than a crammer who produces a great project at the last minute.
The first brainstorm sessions were more of chit chat, non sequitor talk, a smorgasbord of ideas that are not really relevant to our topic. The word "organic" meant leaves, and trees and for some reason food.
We fattened ourselves up every brainstorm session. There was food, in any type or form available. Food was also a weapon that we threw each other during our "fights". Food, whether cooked or raw was predominant in the generation of our wicked ideas. John Benedict and I surely loved food. But back to the roller coaster ride.
Slowly the rollercoaster starts to move, the pacing starts slow, and you start to enjoy the sights and sounds around. Like the size of the people below you, that are reduced to a thumb's height, or you see a little girl overwhelmed by the experience of munching her first cotton candy. You are above and you feel invincible, the world below you are miles away. But you don't realize that the speed of the rollercoaster is picking up.
Weeks passed, and we did not notice that time was running against us. After the Sports and Wellness Center project, we patted ourselves on the back for doing a job well done. Then we relaxed, and too much relaxation paid a greater price and pressure in our Retail Project.
Sooner, our professor noticed the laid back attitude of our section towards the project. The AMC section had better progress compared to us as the final weeks of our retail project dawned.
We saw how they did it, and we realized that if we are not going to do something, time will eat us up, and we're going to wake up one day as fourth year students enrolling in Retailing Management, take two.
There was panic at my part, and when panic sets in, I become crazier. I admit that I am fickle minded, not because I change my plans every minute and then, but because of so many ideas that spring out of my head. Yet these ideas have no mother idea, or that one big idea that holds them together. I prayed to the Holy Mother of God to help me concretize my ideas into a coherent one.
Thus there were numerous brainstorms I couldn't count how many retail plans were approved and rejected the very next day. It was chaotic because our brainstorms were very argumentative, borderline violent. If I am to compare our group to an island, it would be Batanes: stormy and tough.
Panic also sets in when you ride a rollercoaster. The rollercoaster slows down while traversing the highest peak of the tracks, and suddenly you find yourself wondering when will it speed up, or when you will fall to that lethal velocity. That wonder becomes panic, and as each second
passes by, you say to yourself that "this is it. It's the time to die." Yet the next second comes, and there is still stillness.
Then you find yourself being hurled down, your face morphing backwards, your skin feeling the strong wind that is made painful by the speed of the rollercoaster. This is death, that you feel an intense emotion that your insides are falling down and falling apart. What occurs during the 70 degree angle drop felt like a lifetime, when in fact it only happened during a split second. You scream and shout and probably sing and curse and swear, or even recite your last will because of fear, or maybe excitement, or maybe both. Emotions and adrenaline rush and mashup and you're just a violent mix of colours that exploded from a painter's pallette. This is all in a split second. Suddenly you're back in the stop light, in complete trauma with your hair being messed up.
From that famous megakilometric deathmarch at night, to the simple whispering arguments that me and Angel would usually have, all were part of the ups and downs of our project. I've been dissapointed a lot of times, the same way that I was amazed at my groupmates a lot of times. I could say that the best thing I did was not to produce a tangible concept or project. The best thing I did, was that I motivated my groupmates to do the best that they can. That they believed in so much at this project, the same way I did. I am truly proud of that.
One of the thrills of working in the project was connecting to new people. This project caused me new friends, contacts which will be helpful to us, and I hope to them also. I learned how to talk to people, how to be confident and to persuade them into our project. We believed in so much with our project, and maybe that infected them to bring out their talents for us.
I felt that what I experienced in one month was more that than I could experience in a year, the same way a rollercoaster ride would make you feel compared to a bus ride. I met new people, I realized a lot of things about myself and I improved my relationships with other people. I made new friends and made deeper connections.
In a nutshell, this project made me: Laugh, cry, laugh even harder, stay awake for 3.5 days straight, drink more than 3o cups of coffee, fart, eat like a Roman, played the complex dynamics of relationships, objective, subjective, run past the ongoing traffic, walk for miles, dance, learn Adobe Photoshop, have flu, have wheezing cough, grow pimples, grow wrinkles, grow eyebags, jealous, egoistic, PATIENT, impatient, ride MRT/LRT 1 and 2, tactful, resourceful, wear make up, wear heels and sexy clothes ( almost ), pray, fight with security guards, have faith, have optimism, then lose them again, shout, deviant, rebellious and non-conforming.
Now I am Wicked.
Jawa Gid ang Retailing!

I also enjoyed our project lalo na sa 2 araw na nag sleep over kami kay ryan para sa brain storming, kahit na supervisor ako minsan patulog tulog at patawa tawa lang, I gave my best effort like sa pagluluto, paghuhugas, utos-utusan, etc.
Masasabi ko din sa aking groupo... (RC,LUDY,FEY.ANGEL,JB,RYAN and ME.)... Thank God natapos narin ung ating proj..
I will not forget the moment na nakasama ko kayo our group Wicked and also to our Beloved Prof. Sir Capellan thank you sir......
So guys.... thats all.....
Pare, Magkkwento Ako
By: Marc John Siaotong
Sir tim thak you youre the best. i know you heard that message to everyone but still it is true...
